In the summer of 2020 Good Sun’s Local Power team completed the installation of an 10kW ground-mount solar system in the organic garden at the Grass Valley Charter School campus in Grass Valley. This PV system is designed to off-set approximately $6,000 of annual utility costs at the school and serve as a demonstration system for students to learn about solar. The system will also help train upper level students interested in gaining hands-on vocational experience in the renewable energy field. Because the solar array has been installed on a trellis, the solar also provides shade for students while they are in an outdoor classroom setting in the garden.
